WIP manager – Introduction

Work In Progress – WIP manager manages the process between raw materials and production goods in an organization. The WIP manager gives manufacturing support, production scheduling, material control, and resource tracking. Let us see the steps in detail and how to utilize the WIP manager below. An organization should keep the process data.

Installation & Setup

WIP manager is reachable to download on Windows and Linux.

For Windows
  • You can run the WIP Manager in multiple ways.
  • Double click the “runwipmanager.bat” file inside the WIPManager/bin folder.
  • Run as a service  

    To start WIP manager as a service in windows.

    • Open command prompt in administrator mode, cd to /Bevywise/wipmanager/bin and run Createwipmanager.bat

    • This will create the wipmanager  (localhost:8888) and start the WIP manager.

For Linux
  • Open the terminal and go to Downloads/wipmanager_linux/wipmanager/bin.
  • Type “sh wipmanager.sh” and hit enter.

Note: 

For Live Demo, use the below credentials to access the WIP manager.

1. Username: “admin”

2. Password: “admin”

The Configuration of the  WIP Manager:

The wipmanager.conf file in the conf folder can be used to configure the WIP manager. The UI HTTP service runs on port 8888 by default, but it can be changed in the wipmanager.conf file to run on a different port. The database name is bevywise by default, but it can be changed here to another one.

UI_HTTP_Port – Specify the port in which WIP Manager starts. By default, it will start in 8888. and run it as a super administrator.

WEBSOCKET_PORT – The port on which the server waits for the WebSocket connection. The WebSocket port is 8081.

 

Sign-up with WIP manager

Once your installation step is completed, you will either be automatically redirected to the localhost:8888 or copy this link to the browser from the terminal to access the WIP manager. The credentials of this page is given below

          1.Username – “admin”

          2.Password – “admin”

The above screen capture represents the login page of the WIP manager. It is the gateway to manage your manufacturing details in your organization. Made for easy tracking of the production process, and also helps to maximize productivity. This login page gives the support to manage your manufacturing details safely.

WIP settings

In the right side corner of this page, there is a sign-in icon where you can change the password and sign-out from the page.

1. If you want to change the password, then select the “change password” button.  Type the new password and confirm your new password, then update your password to secure your details.

2. If you want to log-out from this Work In Progress manager page, then by using the sign-out button in the right side corner of this page.

It is the primary page in the WIP manager.  It contains many icons. They are the overall dashboard, process dashboard, store, rejection, history, and general settings. Let’s see one by one itself.

WIP Manager- Settings

The Super-admin / admin who has complete access in the manufacturing can update the process details, user details, part details, rejection reasons, and the inventory details for the first process  based on the manufacturing and also you can set the WIP limits such as count limit, cost limit and day limit of the each part. Then the process of rework from rejection is also determined by the super-admin/admin. The other pages in this WIP manager are based on these settings. Let’s see the setup, step-by-step procedure below.

Adding the Process

The Settings icon is used to change the settings of this Work In Progress based on your manufacture. Here you can add the process name based on your requirement by clicking the “+” icon in the right side corner of this page. By default, the store process is always presented on this page with the process order number “1”. Here, you can append the process name, description, and process order for your manufacturing. You can choose rejection in which process takes place. You can edit or update the details of this page by using the edit symbol, which appears when touching every row.

WIP process

The manager for that process will be added as soon as the procedure is added here. This is helpful when adding the employee details in the user management settings page.

Adding the User Details

In the Settings field, the user management page is for managing the employee details such as record the name, role, status phone number, and last login details. You can also view the employee details when it is being created here. Based on the employee’s role, the access may differ in this WIP manager. Here, you can add the employee details by using the “Add User” icon in the right side corner of the page. You can edit, update, or delete the employee details by using the edit and delete symbol, which seems to contact each row. In this WIP manager, there is only one Super-admin for your manufacturing.

Adding the Parts

On this parts page, you can add the part name with the description by using the “Add Part” icon in the right side corner of this page. If your excel file has a large number of part details, you can import it using the import button. This method of data import will save you time and let you save your data safely. It will be used in the overall dashboard, process dashboard, and store page. In which you can edit the details by every row. You can delete the part details by clicking the delete symbol, which presents when we touch each row.

Adding the Rejection Reasons

You can add the rejection reasons based on your requirement on this page. By using this “+” icon, append the rejection reasons. Here also, you can edit every row. These reasons seem the process dashboard page and help to select the rejection reasons for the part in the process dashboard page.

Adding the WIP Limits

You can set the WIP limits for each process and each part in the process, as well as whole parts under the process, on this page. If the part cost limit or the day limit is exceeded, a warning notification message will be displayed in the top right corner of the page.

Adding the General Settings

In this general page, under the settings icon, you can set the inventory for the first process in the “Incoming WIP” field and you can set where the dispatch iems should go in “Outgoing WIP” field. Append the details where the raw materials for production come from. If you desire to recycle the process from the rejection, then choose the process after rejection, where the rejection part goes for recycling. According to your manufacturing shifts, you can select the start and finish times of the day here. On this page, pay close attention to the details. It is impossible to remove or change after it has been added.

Store

The Store is always the first process in manufacturing. Generally, the store makes a stock of raw materials for the production in manufacturing.

WIP store

The store page in this WIP manager, contains the particular process part, production type, inwards, and production details. This page helps to find out how much a product has achieved and how much is available in a process. Using the “Add inventory” button, append the process, part, production type, tracker number, and count. If you append the above data clearly, you can get the appropriate available amount from the total inwards of the specific part. If you need to look for something, utilise the search box at the bottom of the “Add Inventory” option. If you need the certain time details, you get it by choosing the time in the right side corner of the page. 

WIP Tracking

With WIP manager, track the material movements in manufacturing. In the manufacturing process, the materials moves from one process to another for production. You can make the material movements from one process to another using the Process dashboard and also view the material movements in the process dashboard page.

The above screen shot is the Process Dashboard. Here you can get the specific process details. You can choose the particular process under the store button. Then you get the details of the part, opening WIP, inward, outward, closing WIP, current Work In Progress, and also get the bar chart of the top 5 Work In Progress part under the process that you selected.

Opening WIP – The number of incomplete units at the start of a process is known as the opening WIP.

Closing WIP – The number at the end of each day’s process is called closing WIP.

There are two options in this page:

1. Send – This button is for sending materials from one process to another for production. Only the manager of a particular process is allowed to send items from that process to the next order process.

2. Reject – This button is for rejecting the materials in a particular part under process with valid rejection reasons. Only the manager of a particular process is allowed to reject items from that process to the rejection page.

If you require specific product types or tracker id details, simply select the appropriate options. If you need a particular time data, you get it by choosing the schedule in the right side corner of the page.

Shipment

WIP Shipment

This page contains the details about how much quantity of goods are shipped/packed for Finished Goods Store. In this page, you can see the specific part, production type completed WIP amount. Here you can get an accurate result that how much WIP amount shipped. If you need to look for something, utilise the search box.

Rejection

WIP rejection

Rejection – In the manufacturing process, rejection is a key factor that identifies product quality and productivity-related problems.

In this page, you can find the rejection parts, what you reject from the process dashboard page. In which, there are two options: rework and scrap on this page.

Rework – Work again with the used material in the production. Only the rejection manager is allowed to rework the rejection material.

If you need to rework with the rejected materials, then choose the production type, part, WIP amount by tap the rework button. If you want to make the materials to the scrap, then tap the scrap button and fill in the details precisely. Here also you can get the particular time details that you want.

Here you can add the rejection reasons based on your requirement. Here also you can edit every row. These reasons seem the process dashboard page and select the rejection reasons for the part in the process dashboard page.

Scrap

WIP scrap

Scrap – The material is discarded from the process of manufacturing. Only the manager of a particular process is allowed to scrap items from that process to the scrap page. 

The scrap material details from the Work In Progress rejection page are present in this Scrap page. The scrap materials do not add any value for the manufacturing. In this page, you just see the details of how much material goes to the trash bin. Here, you can view the details of the particular time scrap details by choosing the schedule in the right side corner of the page.

History

WIP history

The history page is for every event that happened in all stages in this WIP manager history page. Here you can get the history data date-wise, part-wise, and process-wise. This page contains the process wise, product wise previous revisions for better understanding of the process in a production/development.

Reports

WIP report

This page generates the daily, weekly, and monthly reports at the overall level. If you want to get the appropriate overall level reports, then you must choose the specific parts, tracker, and production type. Here, you can get four types of reports that are production trend (the difference between Inward and Outward reports of each process), WIP trend (the closing WIP reports of each process),

Rework trend (the reports of the rejection part going for rework) and Rejection trend (the differnence between Inward and Outward reports of rejection and scrap).

General Dashboard

The Work In Progress Overall Dashboard page gives the details about the process, inward, opening WIP, closing WIP and outward data of the raw materials & process WIP count. In this page, you can see the process-wise WIP report in a bar chart format. By choosing the parts, product types, and track number you can get appropriate results. If you want to get the data of the particular interval time process here then you have to select the duration that you want is in the right side top corner of this page.
